- 1 cup Unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 8 oz Cream cheese (room temperature)
- 1 3/4 cup Powdered sugar (sifted)
- 1/3 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder (use dutch process)
- 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Ensure the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature to prevent splitting.
- Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa powder together in a large bowl and set aside.
- In a mixer, beat the butter on high speed for 2 minutes. Scrape down the bowl with a rubber spatula, then add the cream cheese and beat on high for 1 minute.
- Mix in half of the sifted powdered sugar and cocoa mixture on low until combined, then add the remaining sifted ingredients and continue mixing.
- Scrape down the bowl, add the vanilla extract, and beat on high speed until creamy and smooth.
Notes
Ensure all dairy components are at room temperature for best results.
This frosting can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Feel free to adjust the cocoa powder quantity for a more intense chocolate flavor.
