Ingredients
Scale
- 3/4 cup white sugar, 150g
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, 50g
- 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour, 180g
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips, mini or reg
- 3/4 cup milk, any kind, even dairy free
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup neutral oil, vegetable or avocado
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350° F and prepare a 9×9 inch pan by lining or spraying it.
- In a medium bowl, combine white sugar, brown sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt. Mix until well blended.
- Stir in chocolate chips to coat them well with the dry ingredients.
- Add milk, vanilla extract, eggs, and oil to the mixture.
- Mix the ingredients just until they are combined to form a batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 26-28 minutes. The cake is done when it starts pulling away from the sides and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
- Frost with chocolate Swiss meringue or 5-minute chocolate buttercream frosting.
Notes
Make sure to not overmix the batter for a light and fluffy cake.
Feel free to use dairy-free milk for a vegan option.
Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep the cake fresh.
