  • 24 nutter butter cookies, family-size package
  • 1 cup candy melts, yellow, 6 ounces
  • 48 candy eyes
  • 48 sprinkles, round orange
  • 1 cup icing, royal, white, 8 ounces


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, add the candy melts and microwave at 50% power for 1 minute. Stir, then continue melting at 50% power in 30-second increments until smooth, stirring between intervals.
  2. Dunk the cookie into the melted candy, ensuring it is fully covered, and let any excess drip off.
  3. Place the cookies on a cooling rack to set for 5 minutes.
  4. Press two candy eyes above the halfway point on each cookie and place two orange sprinkles underneath to create a beak. Allow the cookies to set for about 15 minutes.
  5. Once set, use royal icing to outline a broken eggshell design at the top and bottom of each cookie. Fill the outline with icing and gently shake to even it out. Let the icing dry before serving.

Notes

Ensure that the candy melts are completely smooth for easy cookie dipping.
Experiment with different colors of candy melts for various designs.
If royal icing is too thick, you can add just a tiny bit of water to achieve the right consistency.
